Gaposis...Shortfall between principle & practice

The Chasm...Gaposis

Many organizations have stated ideals & principles :e.g., Rotary has the 4-Way Test, Elks has; Kiwanis has; Lions has Etc. Most organizations along the way develop disconnects between their ideals and social/interpersonal realities..."Gaposis". One driver of these disconnects is the politics, conflicts and the social aggression which develops in any organization.

As we travel the road to experiencing the ideals of any given organization, we take the measure of the execution or lack thereof of the group's stated principles. One’s level of awareness and sensitivity IQ will give you "the read" on the organization and the members and their agendas; whether they are declared agendas or occult agendas which may result in more or less "gaposis". The answer we are looking for is, "Does this organization "fit" for me going forward?"

The gap and the lack of execution against the ideals of this organization is the level of disappointment which we experience

If and when we fall in love, and emotionally invest in an organization, when we feel this disconnect between principle and practice, we are disappointed, we are hurt and sometimes very deeply...unrequited love and promise. When this organizational disease "Gaposis" strikes you, it is time to make a decision. No stewin' without doin'!

As we reach for the stars and grow ourselves to be all that we can be, to soar like eagles, the report card on one’s future with an organization or relationship is the reality of the "gaposis" disconnect and resulting disappointment. Is the disease curable? Maybe, maybe not. We can attempt to make change but we have to ask what is the cost-benefit ratio, the emotional cash flow. "Every opportunity has its season".
